SIZE GUIDE

In France, particularly in rural regions, the mole held a quiet but powerful place in popular belief. A creature of the earth, rarely seen and nearly blind, it was thought to move between visible and invisible worlds.

From this symbolism emerged a deeply domestic tradition: the wearing of a mole’s foot as a protective charm, especially for children. It was believed to ease teething pain and guard against childhood illness. The logic was tender and symbolic, the strength of the mole’s digging forelimbs, so adept beneath the earth, would be transferred to a fragile child. Here, adornment functioned not as decoration alone, but as protection and care.
These practices endured into the nineteenth and even twentieth centuries. Such objects remind us that jewelry has long served as an intimate form of protection: small, wearable talismans carrying hope and belief close to the skin.

The Mole Paw Talisman is cast in Responsible Jewellery Council certified silver, from a paw found in an owl pellet years ago, its delicate form preserved and transformed as a wearable charm.

A garnet, long associated with protection, rests within the hollow of the paw, making it a meaningful piece for both children and adults.
